Marxism: just as material culture is produced through the economy, so too social relations.
Bolshevism: Soviets plus electricity. Peace. Land. Bread.
Constructivism: flood that peace with the products of a new industrial culture.
I couldn’t find any decent translations of Russian Constructivist poetry. I did learn it’s less abstract than the other arts produced through Constructivist ideas. You’re just gonna have to trust me on this one. It influenced and was itself influenced by DADA and Futurism. Traces of it are found in the work of William Carlos Williams and even the Language Poets.
Here’s a poem by Mayakovsky. Not exactly a Constructivist. He’ll get his own post later on.
