Speaking from experience aphasia is no fun. I could more or less speak but understood little coming in. It’s typically caused by a brain lesion that takes on average about six month to heal. During that time the brain re-wires itself to avoid the damaged area. Often the recovered individual’s experience of language is quite unlike pre-injury. For me language was suddenly associative rather than ‘logical’.
