Dear TRB

Reg of WTF.com writes: If I’m copying a poem into a notebook but can’t fit a line across the page is there a convention that solves the problem?

Great question Reg. And yes, there is.

If, ‘the waters the salt the drizzle the ducks the clouds the blue above them’

won’t fit, do this:

‘the waters the salt the drizzle the ducks the clouds

      the blue above them’

You’ve broken the line at a sympathetic point & the indent indicates what follows is a continuation rather than a new line.

Hope that helps.
